While many early modern collectors amassed extraordinary collections of imported and domestic artworks, few were as innovative as Amalia van Solms-Braunfels, Princess of Orange. This presentation first introduces Amalia's cabinets, highlighting trends that emerge in her collecting and display practices that evolved over the course of her life. It then showcases new research conducted for my forthcoming book that uncovers the legacies of Amalia's innovative display practices, that continue to be utilized by the Dutch royal family today.
