Barbara McCloskey's essay, "White Supremacy and the Art of Anti-Fascism in the United States and Germany between the World Wars," appeared in the most recent edition of Kunst und Politik (vol. 23, 2021). This essay is part of her ongoing research into networks of anti-fascist and anti-racist artists and intellectuals forged between Germany and the United States and their activities from World War I through the Cold War years. It appears in a volume of Kunst und Politik commemorating the long and influential careers of art historians Jutta Held (1933-2007) and her husband, Norbert Schneider, who passed away in 2019. The two founded the Guernica-Gesellschaft in 1985 for art historical research into 20th century anti-fascist and anti-war art. The society's journal, Kunst und Politik, began publication in 1999.
