On March 31, undergraduate student Margaret Barnes will present her paper entitled "'She Ruled Our King': Artemisia Gentileschi's Madonna of the Svezzamento and the Humanity of Jesus" at the University of Pittsburgh's European and Eurasian Studies Undergraduate Symposium in Posvar Hall. Her paper reexamines one of Baroque artist Artemisia Gentileschi's paintings of the Madonna and Child as a reinvention of the subject by presenting Christ's humanity through his obedience to his mother, rather than through the visual tradition of an emphasis solely on his physical humanity. Her panel will be at 10:45 AM in Room 5206 in Posvar Hall at the University of Pittsburgh's campus.
