“In our presentation “The University Art Gallery as an Art History Classroom” we reflected on and re-contextualized that different facets that made the curatorial process of the exhibition Paradoxes of Play: Concrete & Conceptual Proposals from Brazil and Beyond a unique endeavor. We looked at power relations, collaborative efforts, and the traditional class roles that were altered for the decision making process and presentation of artworks and information. We also discussed how this agency allowed students to present art history research in innovative ways and provided with the opportunity of acquiring art history training in alternative contexts such as the gallery space.”
