Graduate student Rebecca Lowery will present at the 2023 Multidisciplinary Graduate Conference in Premodern Studies at the Newberry Library for Renaissance Studies (Jan 26-28). Lowery will present her paper, “Artemisia Gentileschi’s La Pittura: A Statement of Self as Court Artist,” on January 26, 2023 in the panel “Defining Selves and Others.” Her research stems from the MA she completed at the University of Alabama. Lowery's paper examines Artemisia’s London period (1638-1640) from a new perspective, considering inventory records and epistolary documentation in relation to the courtly patronage networks in which the artist operated.
