On September 30, 2023, PhD candidate Vuk Vuković presented his paper "Deconstructing Americana: Nam June Paik and Electronic Superhighway" as part of the "Fugitive Media: Aesthetics and Escape" panel at the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present (ASAP/14) Annual Conference. His paper examined how Korean-born artist Nam June Paik, under the guise of flashing screens in his monumental work "Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii" (1995), deconstructs typical Americana images. Vuković also chaired a panel, "Challenging Institutions," which featured works of four scholars whose papers explored how artists employ their artistic practice to unveil, challenge, and push against the established institutional systems.
