The History of Art and Architecture Department is pleased to congratulate the following students on winning a Friends of Frick Fine Arts Award for Independent Undergraduate Research:
Paige Anderson (a junior Architectural Studies major, Design Track) will be traveling to Washington DC and Hong Kong to conduct initial research and comparative site analysis for her honors thesis on the intersection of public urban space and recent social protest movements (the Occupy and Umbrella Movements). Her project is directed by Prof. Mrinalini Rajagopalan.
Abbey O’Brien (a senior HAA major) will be traveling to New York City to complete research for her honors thesis on David Siqueiros’ May Day Political Float by consulting original documents at the Tamiment Library and Robert F. Wagner archives at New York University. Her project is directed by Prof. Jennifer Josten.
Matthew Sova (a senior, majoring in HAA and Anthropology) will be traveling to Germany to complete his research on his honors thesis on the medieval convent of St. Cyriakus in Gernrode. His project is directed by Prof. Shirin Fozi.
Shengyu Wang (a junior, majoring in HAA, Economics, and English Literature) will travel to Berkeley, California and New York City to conduct archival research and interviews to start an honors thesis project on the issue of unpaid labor in the contemporary art market. Her work is directed by Prof. Terry Smith.
