UAG Director Sylvia Rhor Samaniego published an article on the history of Maxo Vanka's murals in St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church in Millvale in the Winter 2022 issue of Pennsylvania Heritage. The article focuses on the history of the murals, as well as their role in Vanka's career and within the context of muralmaking in Pittsburgh during the 1930s. Rhor, a mural specialist, also serves as lead curator of the Vanka Collection, a group of drawings donated by Vanka's family to the Society to Preserve the Millvale Murals of Maxo Vanka.
