The Department of Art and Design at Augusta University will welcome our alum Ben Ogrodnik (PhD 2019) as Assistant Professor of Art History in Fall 2024.
Ben joins the faculty at Augusta University from Del Mar College where he previously served as Assistant Professor Of Art & Gallery Coordinator. At Pitt, Ben was a dual student of the Department of History of Art and Architecture and the Film and Media Studies program. His dissertation was titled Steel City Cinema: Independent and Experimental Filmmaking in the Rust Belt. His research considered the filmmakers and film organizations that transformed the rust-belt city of Pittsburgh into a global center of avant-garde, experimental, and independent cinema during the 1970s and 1980s.
